In winter, a slightly dirty condenser may \u201cget by\u201d. However, in summer, it is a death sentence for the compressor. With high ambient temperatures, heat exchange capacity drops drastically.<\/p><ul data-path-to-node=\"9\"><li><p data-path-to-node=\"9,0,0\"><strong>Cleaning is non-negotiable: <\/strong>Therefore, do not just blow off the dust. If there is grease or embedded dirt on the fins, use a pressure washer, taking care not to bend the fins, and apply suitable chemical cleaners.<\/p><\/li><li><p data-path-to-node=\"9,1,0\"><strong>Watch out for \u201cheat walls\u201d:<\/strong> Check that there are no obstacles blocking the hot air outlet and avoid the recirculation effect, where the condenser draws in the hot air it has just discharged.<br \/><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Bater\u00eda tubo de cobre y aletas de aluminio\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inditer.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/intercambiador-2.webp\" alt=\"Bater\u00eda tubo de cobre y aletas de aluminio\" width=\"449\" height=\"413\" \/><\/p><\/li><\/ul><h2 data-path-to-node=\"12\"><strong>Subcooling and refrigerant charge<\/strong><\/h2><p data-path-to-node=\"12\">Next, check subcooling and refrigerant charge. Under thermal stress, when performance is lacking, the quick temptation is to add refrigerant. However, be careful! Overcharging the system in summer is a ticking time bomb for high-side pressure.<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" title=\"Visor de l\u00edquido y humedad\" src=\"https:\/\/encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com\/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTZ_IFU_UAFmFNE4DKcHKTIGetzqMJxcWTQwPvzUDFgpQ&amp;s=10\" alt=\"Visor de l\u00edquido y humedad\" width=\"168\" height=\"168\" \/><\/p><ul><li><strong>Adjust the charge accurately: <\/strong>Low subcooling usually indicates a lack of refrigerant; excessively high subcooling with sky-high pressures indicates non-condensables or overcharging. Keep the <strong>subcooling level between 3 K and 5 K<\/strong> to maintain the exact amount of liquid in the circuit, and check that there are no bubbles in the sight glass.<\/li><li><strong>Look for bubbles:<\/strong> Also, check the liquid sight glass. If you see continuous bubbles, the refrigerant is reaching the expansion valve partially in gaseous state, or there is a lack of refrigerant. As a result, cooling capacity is drastically reduced.<\/li><\/ul><h2 data-path-to-node=\"15\"><strong>Superheat and compressor health<\/strong><\/h2><div>\u00a0<\/div><h2 data-path-to-node=\"15\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com\/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQo46WWxvLULtbnwwjeQTXQoVO7fU2IKrS6_frmgVvq8A&amp;s=10\" alt=\"Compresores de Pistones Serie Est\u00e1ndar UL | Frascold\" width=\"324\" height=\"213\" \/><\/h2><p data-path-to-node=\"16\">Then, pay attention to superheat and compressor health. Outdoor heat causes the refrigerant to return to the compressor hotter than usual. If suction superheat is too high, the compressor discharge temperature will soar, thereby degrading the oil and causing mechanical seizure.<\/p><blockquote data-path-to-node=\"17\"><p data-path-to-node=\"17,0\"><strong>Golden rule:<\/strong> Keep evaporator superheat between<strong> 5 K and 7 K<\/strong>. In addition, make sure that the discharge temperature at the compressor cylinder head never exceeds <strong>120 \u00b0C<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote><h2 data-path-to-node=\"19\"><strong>Electrical panel: The great forgotten element in summer<\/strong><\/h2><p data-path-to-node=\"20\">Finally, do not forget the electrical panel. Thermal stress does not only affect pipes and gas; electrical components also suffer greatly from the high temperatures in plant rooms or on rooftops.<\/p><ul data-path-to-node=\"21\"><li><p data-path-to-node=\"21,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"21,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Terminal tightening:<\/b> Summer heat expands metals.
